WASHINGTON (May 31, 2011) —The National Hellenic Society (NHS), a foundation focused
on the promotion of Hellenic heritage and the furtherance of Hellenic ideas through the
sponsorship of scientific, educational and charitable programs, hosted a networking reception
for nearly 60 Greek American real estate professionals representing every facet of the industry
from major developers, retailers, and financiers to prominent brokers, attorneys and real estate
industry service providers. The event was held during RECon, the global retail real estate
convention, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nev., May 23, 2011.
“We are happy to provide this networking forum for Greek American professionals who not only
share a common profession but also a common heritage,” said Executive Director Timothy
Maniatis. “We believe it has become increasingly important to connect or reconnect individuals
with their ethnic identities and if the venue happens to be the largest trade show for a
particular industry, then so be it. It was a tremendous success.”
The reception featured a private presentation by nationally-recognized commercial real estate
economist Hessam Nadji, who delivered a presentation on retail market trends.
NHS chairman and co-founder of Marcus & Millichap, George Marcus, introduced Nadji and
provided brief remarks about the NHS mission, vision, and programs to the audience.
“The attendees were enthusiastic about the opportunity to make new friends and business
contacts,” said Marcus. “We look forward to offering future opportunities to professionals from
various industries based upon this model.”
