National Hellenic Museum Partnership
The National Hellenic Society and National Hellenic Museum in Chicago are working collaboratively on several projects that fulfill the common mission of both organizations which is to preserve Greek heritage in America. Projects include, The Homer Project and the exciting “Marathon Project” which is a celebration of the 26 mile run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon at actual marathon race venues throughout the United States. Recently, the National Hellenic Society hosted a reception at the National Hellenic Museum that featured an incredible lecture by Dr. Louis Markos entitled the “Heirs of Athens,” an summary of the ancient Greek world and its contributions to modern day democracy.
