Dr. Robert Green is a medical geneticist and physician-scientist directs the G2p Research Program in translational genomics and health outcomes in the Division of Genetics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Broad Institute, and Harvard Medical School. His talk at Strega Waterfront Boston included intriguing information on the application of genetic research and knowledge that will benefit our health. The reception had a great mix of NHS members, Heritage Greece alumni, and guests, including NHS friends and partner organizations (American College of Greece, Alpha Omega, Benaki Museum, Boston University).

Following the White House salute in honor of Greek Independence Day, the NHS coordinated a reception for members and guests to honor 185 years of freedom from the Ottoman Empire. His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios was in attendance and offered a few words. Several Greek American organizations, Greek and Cypriot Embassy representatives, and politicians were in attendance.

Los Angeles' NHS guests engage in timely discussion regarding today's news environment
Seasoned journalist, NHS member and educator John Metaxas offered an informative presentation followed by a lively discussion March 23, 2017 at the Wilson & Harding Golf Course in Los Angeles' beautiful Griffith Park. In addition to addressing today's news climate, he also shared a glimpse into his diverse career. He challenged the guests to identify the first image in his presentation which set the stage. The photo depicted Senator Joseph McCarthy with his lawyer Ron Cohen who later was the lawyer and mentor of President Donald Trump. From there, he segued to one of his personal inspiration's, journalist Edward R. Murrow, whose See It Now show which criticized McCarthyism and led to the political downfall of the senator.
The American Hellenic Institute honored several outstanding Greek Americans at their annual Hellenic Heritage Achievement & National Public Service Awards Dinner, which included Dr. Van Coufoudakis, Paul Glastris, NHS co-founder Dr. George Korkos, and NHS member Dennis Mehiel. Axoi!
