![]() NHS Members and guests are invited to join the National Hellenic Society's New York Chapter for a special evening in support of our Heritage Greece Program at the Plandome Golf Country Club in Plandome, New York on Friday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m. This past year, Summer 2019, marked the 10 Year Anniversary of the Heritage Greece Program. Watching this program grow and evolve over this period of time has been inspiring and magical. The National Hellenic Society has sent over 400 young adults to Greece for a two week cultural immersion program in the past 10 years. As much of an accomplishment as that is, there is room to grow. This program has been described as "life changing" and "an experience they will never forget". In order to expand and preserve this program we ask for your help. Please join NHS members and guests to support our beloved Heritage Greece Program. An evening of dining and entertainment. Entry per person is $495 which includes food, beverage, and Poker Tournament entry (to the first 140 people who register), and a Grand Prize entry- Two Round Trip Business Class Tickets (NYC to Athens). Those who register after the first 140 slots are filled, will be entered in Blackjack, Craps, and Roulette tournament. ![]() This past weekend, the National Hellenic Society was pleased to be in Chicago as guests of the National Hellenic Museum for their Gala celebration! The Museum and the NHS co-hosted a well attended VIP reception in honor of Doctor George Korkos, a Board Member of both organizations. On the following day the NHS held its Board Meeting in collaboration with the NHM to explore mutual collaboration on joint projects advancing our shared mission to preserve and pass on Hellenic Heritage in America. Following the board meeting, the NHS held a lunch reception with keynote speaker Lea Soupata, former Board Member and Senior Executive of United Parcel Service (UPS), who serves as a mentor to many of the Heritage Greece Alumni. A mentorship meet and greet followed the lunch which also included Pan Hellenic Scholars. On Saturday evening the National Hellenic Museum hosted their annual gala for their entire parea at The Geraghty in Chicago. ![]() This past Wednesday, February 27th, the NHS Boston Chapter got together for a meet and greet networking mixer for NHS members, Heritage Greece/Heritage America Alumni and friends. The mixer took place at the Harpoon Brewery and was a well attended event. Click here to read the full article! ![]() This past Saturday, December 15, many of our Heritage Greece Program alumni attended the Mistletoe Gala in New York, NY. The gala was hosted by the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church at the Harvard Club in New York City, and created the opportunity for a miniature Heritage Greece reunion. The NHS is proud to see that the life long friendships created through this program continue to be lasting and continue to show signs of living on forever! ![]() New York - On Wednesday, December 5th, NHS Members Dennis & Karen Mehiel sponsored a meet and greet dinner at their home. NHS members, along with Heritage Greece alumni were present. This was the second event that the National Hellenic Society has hosted to connect students with prospective mentors who will be able to provide guidance and advice that will help them in the future. The event was incredibly successful and both NHS members and HG alumni in attendance are motivated to continue to foster the mentor/mentee relationship. We look forward to many more events like this as we launch this new phase of our Heritage Greece and Heritage America programs. NHS members, along with Heritage Greece alumni and Pan-Hellenic scholars were present. The purpose of the luncheon was to connect these students with prospective mentors who will be able to provide guidance and advice that will help them in the future. The National Hellenic Society is excited that the first of many events designed for fostering the Mentor/Mentee relationship between our members and our program participants was a success. We look forward to many more events like this as we launch this new phase of our Heritage Greece and Heritage America programs. Thank you Demetra and Ted Argeroplos for sponsoring this event to kick off this exciting new chapter! ![]() New York - This past weekend, Heritage Greece Alumni Dimitri Roumeliotis and John Banas attended the annual meeting of the National Hellenic Student Association (NHSA). They had the opportunity to address the conference attendees and made a presentation about the Heritage Greece Program and highlighted the benefits as well as how the program has impacted them. ![]() BOSTON - The Inaugural 2018 Heritage America Boston Program, sponsored by the National Hellenic Society, hosted 6 accomplished Greek-American students from across the country on August 11th in Boston, MA for an Athens of America Tour. This unique and proprietary program reconnects high school-aged Greek-American students with their roots, heritage, culture, and Hellenic identity through the prism of the American experience. Throughout the day, students met with prominent Greek-Americans; toured the Greek and Roman Art Wing of the Museum of Fine Arts; learned about the Greek revival influence and the impact of the first Greek's in Boston. Students were led in discussion by Professor Emeritus, Emmanuel "Manny" Paraschos, of Emerson College and accompanied by Heritage Greece Alums Elena Jacobson and Dimitria Yeannakopoulos. |
