![]() The National Hellenic Society and Manatos & Manatos implemented the first hybrid Heritage America Program since the onset of the pandemic. 15 students traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with high-ranking government officials, visit Capitol Hill, the Greek Embassy, the White House and watch a Baltimore Orioles Game! They also participated in online Zoom sessions joined by other students who were eager to hear Greek heritage stories and be mentored by the most prominent Greek-Americans across the country. Everyone had an incredible time and left with a “book” worth of career advice! The Heritage America hybrid experience truly captured many Greek-American stories of hard work, resilience, filotimo, passion and filoxenia! ![]() The National Hellenic Society is committed to opening the doors for Greek-American students who wish to preserve Greek culture and excel in their professional careers. For 7 years, NHS has sponsored The Heritage America Program in collaboration with the government relations firm Manatos & Manatos as a networking opportunity for the best and brightest Greek-American students. This year’s program comprised virtual 3-day educational and cultural discussions for nearly 40 students that heard from prominent leaders in government, policy, media, and business. Students heard from each speaker—members of Congress, intelligence community leaders, legislative and administrative policymakers, including two White House Chiefs of Staff and iconic business leaders, and engaged in intimate conversations about familial heritage, stories of immigration, and narratives of success. They witnessed the magic through each speakers’ heritage story, struggles with immigration, and accomplishments. In intimate virtual conversations, speakers shared with students their family’s upbringing, their roots, and how Hellenism, Orthodoxy, and Ancient Greek values coupled with American opportunities led the road to success. At the end of the program, students comprehended and identified the importance of Greek culture and Hellenic Heritage. Armed with this knowledge, they'll become feature ambassadors of Hellenism, following the speakers’ footsteps. Throughout this journey, NHS will continue supporting, guiding, and providing the network to ensure students' success.
