The National Hellenic Society Hosts Reception for Real Estate Professionals at ICSC RECon 20175/22/2017 ![]() The National Hellenic Society, on behalf of Chairman, George Marcus (Moutsanas), Co-Founder of Marcus & Millichap, hosted a reception for Greek American real estate industry professionals attending the 2017 International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) RECon in Las Vegas, NV on Monday, May 22nd at Piero's Italian Cuisine. The reception featured an exclusive presentation by John Chang, First Vice President of Marcus & Millichap, which focused on assessing the status and outlook of the commercial real estate market. The reception was an opportunity to network with other Greek American real estate professionals from every walk of the real estate industry and to hear more about the NHS' incredible programs.

![]() NHS and Elios Society members and guests gathered at the intimate Evvia Estiatorio in Palo Alto, CA, May 9th for a special afternoon with one of the world's most renown particle physicists from Stanford University and complemented by the restaurant's delicious cuisine. The event was the first in a series of luncheons featuring outstanding guests representing the best of our heritage, inspiring and edifying us all. Guest speaker, Dr. Savas Dimopoulos received a warm welcome from the over 40 guests. His research at the Large Haldron Colider at the CERN Laboratory in Geneva has yielded substantial findings leading to his theories on the nature of the universe, the possibilities of multiple universes, and other possible dimensions. ![]() For the past 50 years, Dr. Camp has been involved at the Agora excavations under the Acropolis where he began as a Harvard volunteer in his teens. ASCSA is a consortium consisting of over 200 US colleges and universities that have been involved in the archeological and classical studies in Greece since the late 1800s. The NHS sponsored one of the world’s leading classical archaeologists, Dr. John Camp, who was joined by George Orfanakos, Executive Director of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) in a series of presentations that included Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego, California. NHS Bay Area, in collaboration with the Elios Foundation of the San Francisco Area, have held joint meetings and created a plan to support the University of California, Berkley’s efforts to decipher and translate the ancient Egyptian Tebtunis Papyri. The Tebtunis Papyri constitute the largest collection of papyrus texts in the Americas containing vast amounts of Greek text. Included are fragments of lost Greek dramas and works of other important writers.
