![]() NHS Chairman Drake G. Behrakis donated a museum travel kit from the Museum of Cycladic Art to Stratos Efthymiou, Greek Consulate General in Boston. The kit covers the subject of Cycladic culture and contains audiovisual and printed materials, as well as copies of representative works from the Museum of Cycladic Art collection. This includes marble vessels and figurines. It enables young children to get hands-on acquainted with the Cycladic civilization, as well as for archaeology college majors to expand their understanding and research efforts.

![]() Celebrity chef and author Diane Kochilas is back for a special NHS tour to celebrate her PBS 13-part series, My Greek Table. The series is also co-sponsored by the National Hellenic Society. Diane was the featured guest at four NHS chapter-hosted events along with NHS Executive Director Art Dimopoulos in Boston, MA at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston hosted by NHS Chairman Drake Behrakis; Philadelphia, PA at Estia Restaurant hosted by Estia’s Stacy Pashalis and NHS member John Vasiliou; New York, NY, hosted by Kellari Taverna; and Washington, DC, hosted by Kellari Taverna DC. Diane talked about her My Greek Table journey, and guests also got to watch clips from the series while sampling wine and cheese! Enjoy! ![]() Dr. Robert Green is a medical geneticist and physician-scientist directs the G2p Research Program in translational genomics and health outcomes in the Division of Genetics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Broad Institute, and Harvard Medical School. His talk at Strega Waterfront Boston included intriguing information on the application of genetic research and knowledge that will benefit our health. The reception had a great mix of NHS members, Heritage Greece alumni, and guests, including NHS friends and partner organizations (American College of Greece, Alpha Omega, Benaki Museum, Boston University). The National Hellenic Society (NHS) and National Hellenic Museum (NHM) programmatic collaboration on the traveling exhibit, “The Spirit of the Marathon” was showcased at the prestigious Museum of Science in Boston in celebration of the 119th running of the Boston Marathon. The Exhibit traces the history and impact of Marathon from its ancient roots, when the Greek herald, Pheiddippides, after a grueling 26.2 mile run, proclaimed victory over the Persians: defeat would have been an end to Athenian democracy and would have changed history.
NHS Boston Co-Chairs are working with the Alpha Omega Council to organize joint programs. Plans also are underway to bring the National Hellenic Museum’s “Spirit of the Marathon” exhibit to Boston.
WASHINGTON (June 14, 2012) — As part of the National Hellenic Society’s (NHS) Boston roll-out, the Society coordinated a forum in collaboration with the Alpha Omega Council and National Hellenic Student Association for Greek American entrepreneurs presenting their business models to a group of business experts. The event was held at Boston College in May.
