This past weekend, the National Hellenic Society was pleased to be in Chicago as guests of the National Hellenic Museum for their Gala celebration! The Museum and the NHS co-hosted a well attended VIP reception in honor of Doctor George Korkos, a Board Member of both organizations. On the following day the NHS held its Board Meeting in collaboration with the NHM to explore mutual collaboration on joint projects advancing our shared mission to preserve and pass on Hellenic Heritage in America. Following the board meeting, the NHS held a lunch reception with keynote speaker Lea Soupata, former Board Member and Senior Executive of United Parcel Service (UPS), who serves as a mentor to many of the Heritage Greece Alumni. A mentorship meet and greet followed the lunch which also included Pan Hellenic Scholars. On Saturday evening the National Hellenic Museum hosted their annual gala for their entire parea at The Geraghty in Chicago.
The NHS Chicago chapter hosted a poolside summer barbecue at the home of chapter-chairs Doctors Chad and Marilyn Prodromos on Saturday, July 8, 2017. NHS members and guests were in attendance. The entertainment for the evening was provided by actress and singer, Lisa Zane (actor Billy Zane’s sister!).
NHS Chicago regularly holds meetings and events at and in collaboration with the National Hellenic Museum. Most recently, a reception was hosted in honor of the Museum’s Ambrosia Ball and the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation (USA).
National Hellenic Museum Trustees and NHS Board Members and Advisors Gather for Joint Dinner and Discussion on Further Collaboration
Chicago - May 10, 2013 – The Boards of the National Hellenic Society (NHS) and the National Hellenic Museum (NHM) held a reception and dinner at the five-star CityGate Grille where hosts John and Mae Calamos welcomed NHS and NHM Board members and guests. The dinner was held by NHS, a sponsor of several National Hellenic Museum programs, including the NHM’s Spirit of Marathon exhibit and Homer Project. The Marathon exhibit celebrates the ancient race from its roots to modern day. NHS will bring the Marathon exhibit to next year’s Boston Marathon as a symbol of NHS’ commitment and support of the shared values we treasure. The Homer Project is a permanent archive of the Greek American experience as told through the recorded interviews of Greek Americans.
