NHS announced a $10 million Program Endowment campaign to demonstrate NHS' commitment to promote and pass on Hellenic heritage to the next generation.
NHS Vice-Chair of NHS' Board, Lea Soupata and Lea's husband, Sotiris Zervoulias pledged $1 million towards the $10 million Program Endowment goal. Lea and Sotiri's pledge serves as a commendable act of philanthropy reflecting their dedication to supporting Greek heritage and education.
NHS Chair, Drake Behrakis stated, "NHS is driven to serve our community as a beacon of excellence as we advance our vision to pass on Hellenism's torch to the next generation through our work and impactful programs. We see change in our demographic as opportunity, not a threat. Lea's gift is not just a financial contribution, but a heartfelt investment in the potential of every student that participates in the Heritage Greece Program as we strive to have them take our place one day as Hellenic heritage ambassadors."
Lea, served as Sr. Vice-President of United Parcel Service (UPS) Human Resources and in other executive capacities at UPS. The donation plays a crucial role in enabling NHS to achieve its programmatic objectives and expand its reach and impact.
The $10 million endowment shall support and ensure the viability of NHS' signature Heritage Greece Program for the long-term. NHS has sponsored 700+ students of Greek descent on what is described as a life-changing experience. The NHS' announcement of a $10 million Program Endowment, bolstered by Lea Soupata’s generous $1 million pledge, is a significant step towards ensuring the preservation and promotion of Greek heritage and culture.
The NHS’s commitment to these values, supported by the contributions of its members and other stakeholders will help strengthen the bonds of Hellenic identity and foster a sense of pride and connection among individuals of Greek descent.
